WHAT: VOICE ATTUNEMENT FOR THERAPISTS

Naaz Hosseini, M.A., L.P.

Sponsored by Gestalt Seminars NY

As therapists, we use voice -- ours and our clients --  as part of the therapeutic process whether we are aware of it or not.  When we are not aware of our own voice, we can undermine our intention.  When we are not aware of our clients' voices, we may miss important cues.  This training will attune you to ways in which voice reveals and informs, and will include attunement exercises and practicum.

WHERE: Gestalt Associates, 201 East 34th Street, 5th Floor, New York, NY 10016

COST: $110 ($95 alumni & NYIGT members, $80 students)

CONTACT: Ken Meyer at GestaltSeminars@aol.com or 516.909.8725

WHAT: GESTALT TECHNIQUES 1: EMPTY CHAIR & DREAM WORK with Naaz Hosseini, MA LP.   In this course we will examine the gestalt concept of creating “experiments” for our clients as a means of raising awareness of their internal processes and defense systems. We will learn and practice the traditional gestalt technique of chair work, its origins, goals and theoretical underpinnings, as well as how it is particularly effective for working with projections, introjections, conflicts and splits. Then we will consider alternative techniques to chair work, including dream work, visualization, movement, art, music, writing and other creative techniques, stressing the importance of practitioners having at their disposal a wide array of techniques for working with their clients. Students will have the opportunity to practice these techniques working in dyads.  Pre -requisite: Essence of Gestalt
